    The Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson, 3rd edition lists your serial# in the 1969 - 1972 time frame. (N1 to N100,000)

    The book says:
    Exc $575
    VG $400
    Good $325

    Be aware the 41Mag guns have been selling rather high lately so the above should be used only as a starting point for an auction.

    You have a nice pistol. The .41 cal was loved by some and seen as usless by others. Cuss is right; they do seem to be drawing better money than they have in the past few years.

    I collect 41 mags and yours is worth about 550 to 600. If it had the 8 3/8" barrel it would be worth a conciderable amount . I have the same gun with the 8 3/8 barrel and have seen them for sale as recently as today at the harrisburg pa gun show for 769 was the cheapest. I bought a marlin 41 lever today for 550 nib with the box and paperwork. The last one I have seen on gb sold for 775 and that was used. My 41 model 57 is extremly accurate and has taken many deer up to 100 yards. Try reloading and use 10.3 grains of unique powder with a cci 350 large pistol primer and a hornady xtp-hp 210 grain bullet. This is an excellent load. Also you forgot to mention if it is stainless or blued. That will also make a difference in its value althought not much.     We just acuired a model 57, the gun is in good condition and works properly. Serial number is: N28 477

    could you tell me the year, and value of it?

    Year shouldn't be a problem and someone will likely be along shortly with that info. Value will really need quality close up pics and whether in original box, etc.

    First, welcome to the GB forums.

    Your search of previous posts is the first step in the right direction for answers to your questions. If you re-read my post of last March (next to top in this thread) you will see your gun falls in the same ser#/age catagory as the original gun in question. In other words, the info. posted above is as close as anyone can come without more to go on such as pictures etc.

    The Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson I quoted is still the most current reference book avalible. For specific shipping info. for your gun, you can contact Smith & Wesson firearms for a letter from their history dept. on the factory records of your Serial Number.

    Google 'NRA condition standards' for several different view points in rating a firearm objectively. This may help to understand "book values" when listed either here or in various price guides.

    I love 41 mag revolvers ! Sorry to hear that the price is going up. That was one of the perks of 41 mag, was that they were cheaper than 44's.
