Serial number search through the Cody Museum

Hi all,

Is there any members of the Cody Museum that can have a serial number search done? I have a 1873 Winchester that is different. I am not a member but would like to know if it is correct before I spend $60 on a letter.

    Welcome to the forums here on Gunbroker.

    one of the Moderators here on the Experts forum, is most likely the most advanced Winchester expert you will ever have the pleasure of conversing with. His name is Bert H. He spends many of hours at the Cody Museum. There is another member, David Kennedy, who is the curator at the Cody museum.

    If you post some very well lit, close up photographs of this rifle, they will be able to tell you if it is correct or not for the time period, and if it has the possibility of lettering correctly. I am sure one of them will be along shortly, so hurry and get those photo's up. There is a sticky at the top of the forum, that describes how to post photo's, and you have to go thru an URL.

    What is different about it? Please provide a detailed description, or better yet, post several pictures.
