M1 Carbine extractor damage
Hi guys! hey I bought a plainfield M1 and am having a problem with the extractor getting damaged / chiped on it's face. It appeared to have this problem when I purchased it so I replaced the extractor & ejector sence I had the bolt down to bare bones at this point. Took the little bugger out the other day & got 4 or 5 rounds off befor it started to Not Extract or Eject the spent round. Upon inspection the extractor seemed to have the same "rounded" chip looking damage to it's face as the one I replaced. Of course, the next round in the USGI 15 rnd mag was up against the spent round & all fun stoped there. The wierd part to me is that if I single load the gun without useing the mag, it will extract & eject .... most of the time, remember now I have a bunged up extractor. As far as I know. this is the original "round" bolt & not wanting to mess with headspace, is why I rebuilt it & not replace it ... "one fix at a time" mind set. Any help would be great ! Hopefully some one has been there done that & I won't destroy any more new extractors. Thanks, RC
PS, Can't see where the bolt/extractor is comming in contact with the barrel so it only "seems" to be contacting the back of the cartridge & thats the shape of the chip. RC

Are you using steel cased Russian ammo?
If they are available use only U.S. surplus spare parts.0 -
Lellier & Bellot is the ammo & the extractor was from GPCorp I believe. From what I read on the Russian ammo I wouldn't pay a dime for it. Thanks. 0
