How does an individual ship primers?

Just wondered if anyone knows what the proper way is to ship primers & other items like that? I see a lot of people selling primers & wondered how they ship these & who pays the hazmat? Thanks!

    Primers in the trays and factory packaging can be shipped USPS.
    Their is no HazMat fee.

    I am incorrect.
    Small arms primers have been reclassified at some point as cap type primers and are restricted.

    UPS GROUND, and yes, HAZMAT charges apply. If you are buying, you are (one way or another) paying all of the shipping costs.

    Check the regs with either FedEx or UPS, as you will have to ship through them. At the very least it will have to have the "ORM-D" signage , and have to be handled by special personal with hazardous material training. Every time I have received primers or powder through a common carrier, there was a $20 hasmat surcharge that I had to pay.

    What is your source, or reference for this? Every time I have bought primers or powder in the past, they have been shipped through a common carrier and I have been stuck with the Hazmat fee?

    I'm amazed how quick I got replies. But I see lots of different suggestions which still leaves me confused. I have tried to search the USPS & UPS sites for specific instructions but couldn't find exact info. Wondering what is legal & what is not.

    Every time I've gotten powder or primers it's been shipped UPS and UPS is bringing me some powder tomorrow. You can't ship ammo USPS so I would be suprised if you can ship primers USPS. The UPS HAZMAT charge is now $22.50. Best bet would be to call UPS or FedEx and talk to someone who know the regulations.

    I think that shotgun primers and primed brass are shipped differently than pistol/rifle primers.

    Anything that can be considered an accelerant, oxidizer, explosive, flammable, or flamable stimulant, is not permitted on any aircraft w/o proper paperwork that the average parcel won't get. Declare it what you like dont get caught trying anything but ORM D or higher.

    Dont try shipping them UPS.. to ship ORM-D with UPS, you must have all of the following, a account with UPS, Daily Pick Up by UPS and certified hazardous material training and have a copy of that with UPS.. I just had one very snotty bitch who was clearly annoyed by my question at UPS inform me of this... when I asked the simple question.. how do I ship primers?

    It is common that the UPS employees have no idea what their regs are, and make up what they want to. I have no account with UPS and have shipped ORM-D Small Arms Ammunition several times.
