Remington .22 Viper

Have a Remington .22, 522 Viper. Very accurate cheap little ATV/UTV rifle, however it will jam on a moments notice. I have tried different brands of ammo, cleaned the hell out of it--left it dirty, lubed everything and nothing, everything short of throwing it in the river from frustration.

I have used the orginal mags (plastic) and have bought a metal mag (somewhat expensive). Same problem, my thinking is that it doesn't have enough blowback to adequately reseat the next round (if that makes sense). The round is seated but the firing pin doesn't make contact, I have to eject the round and physically 'recharge' the next round from the mag, that round will fire then the bolt will cycle and the new round may fire or not.

Please save me from throwing this rifle away in a fit of rage, it really is a handy little piece of s..t to carry on my 4-wheeler.

    If none of our folks can help you. You might post your question(s) to the Remington board on www.rimfirecentral.com I believe the rifle your inquiring about has generated a lot of controversy over there, not in a good way.

    Do yourself a favor, get rid of the rifle, it is a piece of junk. Just don't do it when in a fit of rage...do it with cool calm logic as you now know it is junk.

    What you have is a nice light utility SINGLE SHOT! That's about the best way to deal with these. They are not worth working on.

    Never really had any problems with mine. It will jammed after about 1000 rounds. but then again, I will clean the heck out of it. I would clean the chamber really good.

    Try a box of the 60 grain Aguila .22-SSS ammo. It's got a short case that's easier to eject and a bigger bullet that seems to cteate more blowback. They are the most reliable i've found for two Beretta 22As' I have. And wouldn't a stronger spring help the bolt close.

    dont know about that problem. but my brother got one for his birday back when he was a teen. only ever shot it a few times. functions fine but i think an ak is more accurate then this thing. dam bullets almost seem to come out of the barrel sideways sometimes.

    quit wasting your time and buy a 10/22 or a nylon or something
    you can dress up a pig...
