7.62X54 R Cast loads

i have tried about 100 different loads for my little brothers'1939 91/30 7.62X54 Russian. The bore measures out to be .310'' and it looks like a mirror once cleaned.
Have tried all the following:
Clays, red dot, blue dot, bulls eye, H322, H414, Varget, RE22, Accurate 5744, even tried H110.
Is there a powder and a charge that will produce a 1'' group @ 100 yds with a lyman 314299 bullet??
Im not looking for massive knock down just a paper puncher for matches.

Any info will be much appreciated

    I have tried a 177. gr (.311) cast load with 41.4 grs of H414. and i cannot keep a group @ 25 yds it wanders to the right.... does this mean i have the wrong bullet weight for that caliber? Or do i have a wrong charge for that cartridge? Any information would be great.

    One of the most consistently accurate powders I have found for cast boolit rifle loads is Unique. It seems to offer good accuracy with middle of the chart loads. Depending on your chamber try a .0020 jam into the rifling.

    Asking for a 1" group from a battle rifle with cast projectiles is a bit like making a silk purse from a sows ear..... [:D]

    What kind of groups are you getting with your factory or milsurp ammo ?

    You've probably already found the perfect load and don't know it.
    The 91/30 has a long barrel clamped in a long stock with pressure points all over it. Loose action screws will give groups all over the place too.
    The Finns cured this with shims under the action to float the barrel, and opened up the hand guard channel. Out near the muzzle end, they placed felt pads for pressure points.

    I forgot to say i have put it on an Advanced Technology synthetic stock and free floated the barrel myself. And screws are secure but not over tight.
    Funny thing is that Factory Winchester ammo makes nice 1'' groups with 180gr hunting bullet.
    Found out the twist is 1:10 with 4 lands,

    Bpost1958 i will try to seat it a little more out of the case and get back to you.
