#4BUCK=WHAT CHOKE????

what would be the best choke to use for #4BUCK??? super full turkey? extra full turkey? I don't have a clue. I'm new at this hunting coyotes with a scatter gun. I'm willing to buy any choke. I just want the best choke for the job. All suggestions will be helpful THANKS

    For #4 BUCKSHOT, usually a modified choke gives best accuracy, Your mileage may vary.

    between modified and Improved is where alot of the good riotguns are setting, But I have shot more then a few rounds through a traditional full choke in long barreled guns with nothing worse the a sore shoulder..


    I dont think I'd use anything crazy tight like a turkey choke with #4 buck. It could ruin the chokes pattern, stick the choke sleeve to the threads, or even bust the barrel. It may not even be a good Idea with screw in chokes.

    I've shot buck quite a few times with no problems through full screw in chokes, but I think Remington says not to.

    Use Lead shot. I have used no. 4 birdshot 3" 1 7/8 loads, No 2 shot 3", No 1 buckshot 3" all out of a 18" winchester defender with a .640 x full turkey choke. I had my gun threaded for screw in chokes. It kicks wicked. I have taken them 60 yd. Happy hunting.

    Modified choke, or IC is best. Full choke is too tight for #4 buck.

    Years ago we called foxes and coyotes, after using different set ups I finally settled on #4 buck out of a 30 inch full choke. I had consistent kills out to 60 yards. I want to clarify I was using lead shot. I do not know if some of the new harder shot or plated shot should be used through full choke. Consult the manufacturer of the ammo you are using and see what their recommendation is. I would not use anything tighter than full choke, but admit I have no experience with the tighter chokes, again check with the ammo manufacturer.

    Of course pattern you shotgun with the ammo and choke to determine what patterns best for the ranges you expect to shoot. Nothing, other than safety of course, replaces patterning you shotgun if you want to know what it does and what is best.
