model 7 in 6.8 spc?

I've seen in Remington catalog that they offer the model 7 in 6.8 SPC. I would think this would make a great deer rifle for the woods of Pennsylvania. I haven't been able to find in at any of the local gun shops. Anybody know anything about availability? Any opinions on the 6.8 cartridge

  As far as I know, the 6.8 SPC chamber was dropped by Remington in 2007 from the bolt action list. There are still Model Sevens available from some retailers both online and in stores, you just have to look for them.

  In my opinion, if the action will accept a bigger cartridge, use it. The 6.8 is a half arsed compromise. It's only real place to to try to put a little more knowckdown in an AR platform. If you like a Model 7, get one in 260 or 7-08.
