glock vs. xdm8

In the market for a new .40. any suggestions on pros and cons on the glock 23 vs. the xdm8.

    XDM or smith&wesson M&P. Either one is better then the glock in my opinion...

    If you plan on mounting a laser sight on the frame, a glock style rail wont hold a laser rigid enough too hold a zero. I am not sure if the XDM has a picatinny rail but it is the only type or rail system that I have seen that will keep a laser completely rigid through alot of recoil, or after smacking the crap out of something with it.

    Buy what feels good in your hands...I'd pass on the S&W but that is only because of my personal experience with one.

    Like everything, this will come down to personal preference. They're both good guns, whichever one you like better is the better choice.

    XD-M will have the grip safety and a different grip style/shape. Whether or not you prefer its grip is up to you, but unlike the Glock, this one is adjustable.

    XD-M in .40 also has a pretty impressive 16+1 capacity, which isn't a disadvantage.

    I would take the XD over the Glock. I don't like the looks or the feel of the new XDm, but it would be better than a Glock.

    I have carried a Glock 23 for quite a long time now, so I am used to it. It has more of a recoil than my full size 45, but just takes some practice to get pretty accurate with it.

    The XD did not "feel" good in my hands when i tried it out, so I decided not to buy it (despite the higer cap mags, Glock 23 is a 13 +1) and stick with what I know. The XD was heavier, even empty.

    Either one is a fine weapon. Like many have said before, it pretty much boils down to personal preference. I would go to a local gun range, rent one of each and put about 50 rounds or so through each and then make your decision.

    Walther P99 if you want a striker fired pistol. They are offered in several trigger configurations(DAO, Glock Type, SA/DA), have interchangeable grip pieces, and are just great gens. I have one in 9mm with the AS trigger which is a SA/DA trigger and love it.

    If you want a hammer look at the Beretta Px4 or FNP 40. Great guns.

    Between the two you mention, I like the Glock. I hate grip safeties and the XD never pointed well for me. But fitment and natural pointing are crucial in any gun that is going to be anything more than just a paper killer.
