Lever "droops" on Model 94 Winchester

I know next to nothing about lever guns and I have a little used 1952 Winchester Model 94 30-30, with the gun un-loaded and the hammer down the lever "droops" about 1/2-1".

If I manually bring the lever back up to a firing position and let it go it will "droop" down by this amount through gravity alone. It does appear to "tighten" up a bit with the hammer on 1/2 or full cock.

Is this a cause for concern?

I've never taken one of these guns apart, does anyone know what might be causing this?

  There is a "friction pin" or "friction stud" in the back of the "link"(or that big thing that comes down from the bottom of the gun along with the lever) that presses on and kinda hooks over the front edge of lower tang when the gun is closed. The spring in this could be broken or the stud could be worn. There is some additional friction given through some slight resistance of the extractor riding in its groove causing the breechbolt to resist forward movement from the locking bolt.
