Good Pistol Caliber Carbine

I'm wanting to purchase a pistol caliber (preferably a 45 ACP, but any really will do) rifle carbine. I'm aware of the Marlin Camp, Beretta Cx4, Ruger, and High Point models. Which of these is the best bang for the buck, or is there something else out there that might be better?

    Marlin makes lever actions in handgun calibers, not semi but still short rifles that shoot handgun calibers. I have one in 45 LC and it's accurate, well made. There's also the Mech Tech unit if you're inclined to go that way.

    Ruger in 44 magnum, Marlin Camp Carbine (the 45 takes 1911 mags), the others that you mentioned. You can also convert a mauser or enfield to 45, in fact the Brits did a silenced Enfield in 45 called "the DeLisle Carbine" in WW2.

    I love my 9mm Beretta CX-4 carbine and it uses standard 92FS mags.

    Well I guess what do you want to do with it and how much do you want to spend?

    There are lots of good options out there but the price and what they can do will vary greatly.

    There are some nice lever guns that are semi cheep, reliable and come in lots of good calibers.

    There are many semi guns that run in the medium price range that are good but required more to maintain then the lever guns. Most of these are "sporting" style guns.

    There are many military style guns with larger mags and are more durable then "sporting" style guns. These also carry the highest price tag.

    I have a few of each style each have good an bad points. Bases on use would help make better suggestions.

    Marlin lever guns (many calibers)
    Uzi (9mm, .40 S&W, .41AE, .45 acp)
    Marlin Camp 9 or 45
    Beretta Storm (not sure on calibers)
    HK USC .45
    Ruger semi auto or lever or bolt
    Keltech
    AR-15 (many calibers)
    Tommy gun
    Mech Tech units that go on the pistols

    I did not see the Kel-Tec, Uzi, or HK 94 mentioned. The Kel-Tec is neat as it folds up into about half size. The Uzi is one of the original's that started the semi-auto craze. The HK platform can be had on 10MM too, if I am not mistaken, but only in selective fire.

    I'm really looking for a semi, mostly for plinking and self defense. I suppose based on everything I've read, I'd really like the Beretta CX, but I really hate to break the $500 mark. The hi-points are cheap, but dang ugly. I don't mind the Marlin's so much, but I like the rails and such that come on the Berettas, and I can't seem to find much in the way of aftermarket stocks for the Marlins. I guess what I'm trying to say is I'm too cheap to buy the Beretta, is there anything comparable cheaper?

    Just shot a Keltec at the range last week. Was pleasantly surprised at it.

    I've got both the Marlin Camp 9 and Camp 45. If you looking for plinking the 9 is the way to go. In the camp guns it's also slightly more accurate than the 45. I also have a Ruger 44 Carbine, but that's a different animal altogether.
