Removing Nickel Plating

I have a long 1911 trigger that I would like to have reblued.Is it possible to remove the nickle plating and have it reblued? Thankyou

Don't know how I ever got over the hill without ever getting to the top!

  Can you commercially have nickel plating removed from firearms by reversing the process?

  Absolutely.
  
  But, there are a couple of things to consider.
  
  First, the surface underneath will probably be ugly & discolored, at the very least. At worst, you will find that the gun has been severely ground/polished.
  
  Second, plating adds thickness to parts. So, after removing the plating you may have clearances that are too big. It depends upon the gun, the plating prep, the plating thickness.
  
  Replating a gun that was originally plated will work well. Also, parkerizing a military gun may be a good choice. For this type work you want a gunsmith who does plating, not a bumper shop.
