SERIAL 2023XX. TWO INCH COBRA. PLEASE TELL ME WHEN IT WAS MADE. MANY CONTINUAL THANKS TO YOU EXPERTS.

Are there any letters before or after your serial number or included in one or both of the X's? For example, if your serial number is 2023LW, it was made in 1951. If it's 202300LW, it was 1966. 0 -

There should be letters beneath the serial number on the frame as pictured below. The "LW" means "Lightweight". Are you sure it's a Cobra?

There ya go! 1966 is correct. The "LW" was part of the serial number for the Cobra, Aircrewman, Courier and Agent models from 1950-1969 to distiguish them as "Lightweights". They used various letter prefixes or suffixes from 1969-1978.0 -
There were actually 2 different Colt Cobras. I owned one without an ejector rod shroud, and made of steel. I still own one from the early/mid seventies that is made of alloy, and has an ejector shroud cover. Both are nice guns, but I prefer S&W for revolvers. 0 -
