Marlin Model 60

I was in in a shop yesterday looking at two Marlin model 60's. One was a newer model and had a shorter mag tube under the barrel. Has Marlin gone politically correct and limited the new model 60's to ten rounds?

    My nephew recent was given a new marlin model 60 semi-auto .22 rifle. He is only 5 years old so the stock is too long for him. I have looked online for a shorter stock for the marlin and can't seem to find anything. Is there a smaller stock made for the marlin or do i just need to buy and replacement and modify it until he gets a little bigger and if so where is the cheapest stock i can find. Thanks

    Different Ammo! Remington ammo is very waxy.

    Yeo try different ammo. Most of my 22 autoloaders dont like the Remington ammo. I switched to Federal and never had a problem as long as I am pulling proper maintenance.

    Federal, CCI and Eley all work well for me.

    I must be lucky, my mod 60 will shoot any brand I put in it. I'm not sure which one is most accurate, I may have to try to find out later on this spring.

    Mine only cycles high velocity ammo. Seems to like federal ammo better than remington ammo as well.

    It may not be the ammo, this rifle has a habit of getting a lot of burnt powder down around the tube, feed and it cause the rifle to jam, get some spray cleaner and spray this area real good. I had one that was really bad and took the parts out of the receiver to clean the internals. I thought I had the rifle clean also, it was dirty and I could not see the build up!

    Buy a new extractor from numrich, and get some mpro7, strip the bolt and use a pick to scrape the lead deposits out of the channel in the bolt for the extractor, then put the new one in.

    I saw a listings for extractor pins, extractor springs, & right extractor. Which do I need?

    Most likely ammo first problem and second problem is the gun is NOT CLEAN.. if you are using lead bullets switch to copper plated or something not lead.. Also clean the heck out of the thing then see if it is still doing it..

    Ditto the pick cleaning. My 60 (bought used) was doing the same thing when I got it. It looked clean as a whistle till I started scraping edges down deep with a toothpick...lots of gunk packed in and not obviouse. Solved the problem. Helps that it's an easy gun to break down and reassemble (NOT the trigger assembly however, and NOT necessary).
