Old Sako - What is it?
I have an old Sako bolt rifle in the shop for D&C. 22 Hornet, Weaver 6X, fine line checkering, what appears to be light birdseyed wood. Metal is 95%, wood is 80%. I think it is an L46 but no markings except "22 Hornet" on barrel top and "Sako" "something in Finnish" and "Made in Finland" on left of receiver. What model is it and what is it worth?

most factory L46 hornets had the word "hornet" stamped on top of the barrel just next to the receiver. also most had L46 stamped on top of the front dovetail in a circle. If your rifle is original it should have the sako gripcap and butplate. Give us a picture or two and also indicate the barrel legnth. The magazine clip should also say hornet on the bottom. the safety should be on the left side of the bolt. I cant give you a ballpark value till I see some pics. serial # is also helpful. 0 -
Does it have a removable Magazine or do you load from the top? #2 does it have a squar looking back to the bolt with a leaver you can rotate that is the safety . If the answer to these two questions is yes then you have IMHO one of the best 22 hornets ever built. L46 action most likely called a RIIHIMAKI model "WHERE MADE" by Sako collectors. 0 -

You hit dead center. That's exactly what it is. Though she brought it in for cleaning and appraisal, the owner called last night and told me she must sell it. Look for it listed on GB later today or tomorrow.
