THIS IS AN HOPKINS & ALLEN SINGLE SHOT BRAKE OPEN DESIGN 12 GAUGE SHOTGUN. IT WAS CALLED THE CANNON BREECH BECAUSE IT HAS A 3/8" THICK BREECH. THE GUN IS IN FAIR CONDITION WITH NO MAJOR CRACKS IN THE STOCK AND VERRY LITTLE PITTING ON THE METAL WITH MOST OF ITS BLUING STILL THERE. IT'S BEEN CUT DOWN TO 25" MAYBE TO BALENCE IT AS IT IS BALENCED VERY WELL AT THIS LENGTH. THERE IS A CHIP IN THE BUTPLATE AND THE TRIGGER SPRING IS WEAK OR MISSING AND SHOULD BE REPLACED. OTHER THAN THAT THE SHOTGUN NEEDS NOTHING. THE SHOTGUN HAS BEEN FIRED BY ME AND SHOOTS WELL. THE SHOTGUN EJECTS PROPERLY. LOCK UP IS TIGHT AND THE SPRING LOADED LATCH WORKS WELL AND IS TIGHT. THE FIRING PIN IS IN GOOD SHAPE. THESE SHOTGUNS WERE FOR SALE IN THE EALY 1900'S. IT WAS LISTED IN THEIR 1913 CATALOG FOR $9.75 FOR EXPORT AND $8.00 US SALES. THIS SHOTGUN WAS FIRST SOLD FOR EXPORT ONLY IN 1910 BUT SOON AFTER THAT IT WAS SOLD IN THE U.S. I AM NOT SURE OF THE AGE OF THIS SHOTGUN BUT IT'S 20'S I'M GUESSING.. A REPUTABLE GUNSMITH SHOULD CHECK THIS GUN OUT BEFORE YOU USE IT TO BE ON THE SAFE SIDE. THIS SHOTGUN IS IN PRETTY GOOD SHAPE FOR ITS AGE AND STILL WORKS WELL. NICE OLD SCHOOL 12 GUAGE FOR THE MONEY. THAT CANNON BREECH LOOKS STRONG AT 3/8" THICK.0 -
Years ago I had one of the same guns. It also said "super dreadnought" on the side of the receiver. 12 ga with 36 in bbls.
