To Janine, regarding your Beretta 22:
Yes, all of the comments about the lack of stopping power of the 22 versus bigger cartridges are all true. However, I would say this: load your Beretta 22 with CCI QuikShoks, Stingers, or Velociters. These are all hyper velocity rounds with more velocity and stopping power than regular .22 ammo. Further, practice with your Beretta, especially making multiple shots at close range. Also, carry at least one extra magazine, and practice removing an empty clip and inserting the fresh magazine.
I would again suggest that we all know that the stopping power of the 22 pales in comparison to bigger cartridges. However, I would further suggest that an assailant with three or four QuikShoks in his face, throat, and chest may not be able to chase after you very fast!!

A guy who I used to live next door to had an encounter with a sneak theif in his house. He was not a good neighbor, and I am not saying what he did/didn't do was ok, but he dumped a clip from a Ruger 22lr auto into and at the theif. He hit the guy several times, no I don't know where, and the theif jumped back out the open window and out ran the shooter to get away. I got this info from the cops who responded to my call when the neighbor was dumping rounds from his new 357mag into the hillside several weeks later because he thought folks were lurking around in his back yard. The yards were big, but not big enough for shooting in. He moved away to our releif shortly there after...... 0
