303 No5 scope rails !

Hello all !

I have a No5 that is superb order, when the open ladder rail is on it groups a superb 2-3" @ 100yds with 125 & 150 prohunter, on vit 120/133

I recentley been trying diffrent scope rails, & cannot get any to hold down tight, the 'B' square..narrr'forget it'

so i got a s&k mount,(as these were suggested best) this has the right look, a nice fit, good hieght, & when it holds the scope will do 1" @100yds...... but still doent hold tight, to the reciever, it moves every 4-8 shots.

The top locking bolt to the square block , meets the bottom of the rail, should this be as so ?? or should it nip tight??
The fit is lovelly,on the s&K but it wanders side to side after a couple of shots. What can i do to get it to lock up tight & hold the receiver bar solid ??

Any experiences guys ?? Thanks

    I don't scope classic battle rifles.

    Maybe you need somebunny to come over there and teach you how to use iron sights.

    I maybe could find a Man willing to put up with funny accents.

    This is where loctite comes in handy. Put just a small drop on the threads and torque the sight down properly and wait a day or two depending on environmental conditions. Then it shouldn't keep coming loose on you.

    edit:

    You could also put a light coat under the base, and that will kind of act like bedding the base so it won't like to vibrate so bad

    CAD Technik's No.4 and no.5 QD scopemount attaches to the reciever useing ejector/safety screwholes. has vertical/horizontal adjustments built in. $75.00

    The Williams side mount and SM-71, QC high HCO rings. Requires drilling/tapping. Those style rings are the only ones that will put the scope directly over the bore.. $90.00

    Call brownell's and ask about those particular mounts.

    I have the S & K on an SMLE. Three issues.

    First, the steel loop that is tightened around the front receiver is a good deal larger than the receiver ring. I used metal shims between the bottom of the receiver and the metal ring, just above where the screw is tightened. Eliminates the play.

    Second, that little nut on the rear of the mount has to be tight as hell. And even after the initial tightening, you have to go back and tighten it even more.

    Finally, unless you dress down the rear tab on the scope mount or grind some metal off the front of the bolt, you can not remove the bolt from the rifle.

    The S & K is generally a good mount, but the CAD is far the best. Solid anchor held directly in place by screws, not pressure.
