410 Contender
I've never owned or fired a 410 of any type but I recently came into possesion of a T/C Contender with a 45 Colt / 410 barrel. Exactly whot kind of preformance can I expect out of the 2 1/2" high brass shell with #6 shot in the contender??? It has a 10" barrel with the choke.Could this pistol be re-chambered to handle the 3" shell????? A 410 was a bad word in my house,my dad had no regard for them and my brother and I started with 20 gauges.

Well I've popped squirrels out of trees as high as 25 yards with one, and a few flushed birds.
Rechambering would probably cost you more than it's worth and will not be a huge improvement over the 2 1/2 inch chamber....
A 410 in the right hands is good gauge, I've even hunted ducks with one in a 101 Winchester
and had no problems as long as I paid attention to details.......0 -
It probably is chambered for the 3", but from what I've read, and from my own experience, 2 1/2" work as well or better than 3". Good luck - you'll enjoy how potent they are. 0 -

I have the T/C Contender(.45long colt/.410ga) in the 12" version that has taken whitetail deer and bushy little gray squirrels.
Kind of depends on what you want to use it for, but I agree. It's a surprisingly potent "handgun"!
I found some "0000" Ultra Buck is what this guy calls it.GunBroker username Paraklese. I bought 2-1/2" .410 "ultra buck" that has 3-.36 caliber pellets per round. 1200fps/725fpe. At 20' I got a pattern of about 4-6" consistently. He says they hit with close to a .44's energy. I sure like mine!
