How does one remove the rivet stubs from AK 47 rea

I'm looking for a nice (easy) way to remove the two long rivets from the rear trunnion of an AK 47 after the rivet heads and receiver stub has been cut off. I guess that I can drill them out, but I'd prefer a more elegant solution if one exists.

  You could always take an angle grinder to them...

  If I did that I'd still have to drill to install the new rivets. That is what I'm trying to avoid.

  I'd try a hydraulic press and start with a very short punch of almost the rivet diameter. If it starts moving use progressively longer punches.
  If it doesn't move, drill using progressively larger drills so if the drill walks you don't enlarge the rivet hole. Check the far side.
  When you've got the largest hole that can be safely drilled, use a knife
  style Swiss file to break through one side of the rivet.
  The remnant can now be pushed out with a press or driven out using hammer and rivet sized punch.
