lever action shotgun

I am interested in lever action shotguns, i only know about the two winchester models, was wondering what other companies made them at one time.

    hello
    one of the freinds at work asked me about a lever action 12ga i dont know any thing about them but he wanted to know who made them if anybody did or who made them along time ago. he said that he had alot of fun with it but cant think of a manufacture name or anything else but would like to find one. any help on this would be appriciated.
    just looked online and seen winchester and norinco. any info on them as well but mainly the winchester.

    An outfit called Kessler (no, not the whiskey people!) made one in the 50's or 60's. That's the only one I know of besides the Winchester & copies. Of course, there were a few .410's made by Marlin, Savage, and Winchester. But you asked about 12 ga.

    There is a reproduction Wichester 1887 lever action 12 gauge, they were selling or about 250.00, I think that price may be long gone, they are on the auction side and you can do a search to price them on other sites. Marlin makes a little .410 lever, they were really hard to find, go over to the Marlin web site and see if you can take a look at one or try to find one up for auction of this site.

    Winchester made at least 2 different models the model 1887 and model 1901 IMHO the 1887 should not be fired with ANY modern shell and the model 1901 only with light field loads and NEVER with STEEL shot loads. Both models came in 10 and 12 GA. I don't know what the chamber length is in either model so BEWARE it might be short chambered. Bert H KIMI old Colt and others will be the ones that knows the answer to that.

    Norinco, Classic Arms, Inc. on line had them for about the best price, they are not on the site any more, call and he will be may be able to give you a price or tell you were they selling. There are quite a few post on this forum, search and you will find all kinds of info on the import.

    The Winchester Model 1887 was chambered for 10 and 12ga., the Model 1901 was only chambered in 10ga. I believe the chamber length of the Model 1887 12ga. was 2 5/8", and yes, black powder only.

    Dead on the money, and the only thing I will add, is that the Model 1902 was chambered for a 2-7/8" shell. Neither the Model 1887 or Model 1901 should ever be fired with modern shotshells.
