Colt open top 1872 parts.

Howdy Folks, can anyone tell me which ejector rod head is correct for the open top colt 44 rimfire? I've seen pictures showing the bulls-eye type, and the one contoured to the barrel. Also is the loading gate common to any other colt or conversion? Thanks.

  The bulls-eye was on the first model 1873 so as Colt never threw any old parts away I suspect but do not KNOW that the first 1873's were left over open top parts.

  I haven't found anything in writing so far, but from pictures of the Model 1871 44 "Open Top Frontier" Rimfire Revolvers in TBoCF, it appears that the ejector rod heads were of the contoured type, not the Bulls-eye type.

  I have one. I'll look and report with an edit.
  
  edit Mine has the contour type. Gun is in original "survivor" condition. S/N matching is 175x, Navy grip, 20% remains of old nickel over copper plate, no scene, well worn grip with some original varnish, all numbers and markings clear, excellent bore. No indication of any repair or restoration
