Ruger Mark II Pistol Install
Does anyone have the installation procedure for a Mark II target Pistol Sear from Volquartsen? I got the "drop in" Trigger installed just fine, but the sear is giving me fits. I took photos and have had it together twice. It seems good until I get it together (I know it's not the main spring). I've done more difficult jobs, but this has me befuddled. Thanks.

...It appears you have gotten past the nightmare of MKII assembly/disassembly, obviously.
...Rare indeed that a "drop in" part just "drops in", here may lie your problem. I suspose the Sear is pre beveled/stoned? The "hard work" being done at the factory...but, you may still have to fit surrounding parts, as with 1911's...a sear alone does not a trigger job make...springs & other parts play a roll also...love my MKII, and it's straight factory...luck...[;)]

Years ago I bought one of the "V" kits for my Mark II, from Brownells. As I recall the sear spring was a real b**ch, to get back in correctly. It took me a couple of tries as it was one of the mousetrap type springs that had different length "legs" that had to be in correct relationship to the bearing surface on the sear.
IMHO best thing to do would be to get either a illustrated parts breakdown or schematic of the Ruger 22 Auto, showing the relationship of the internal parts.
I don't know if you can get one on-line? I have found one in the "NRA Firearms Assembly" Book. Its been published for years, in many editions. You can either buy a new one off of Amazon or a used copy off of Bookfinders.0 -
I put the full kit in a Mk II 2 years ago. Also replaced all the springs with competition springs plus a new disconnector, trigger and sear on a Mk I about the same time frame. No diff on the sear spring for a Mk II, but I had to do it over and over again to get the othe springs right. If I recall the pin to the sear was temporarily replaced by a small screw driver (eyeglass type) so I could manuver the spring into place with another small screwdriver. Make sure as Rufesnow says that the spring is correctly oriented. The kit made shooting much better for me.

Do what I did.Went and bought a second pistol before I tore the first one down and used it as a guide.At least that's what I told the wife when I bought it.Now 17 Ruger 22 auto pistols later

I like EvilDr235 suggestion, have enough guns for now. I will borrow my neighbors MKII to confirm sear location with other parts. Spring I had in correctly, but other variables were amiss. The dawings in the manual for parts list is too far apart to provide much help.
The adjustable trigger dropped in nicely, but even with photos I took I can't see position of sear with safety, mag lock etc.. Thanks.
I've also asked Volq to send me the instructions. [:)]0
