Advice on a beginners 12gage

I am looking to buy a 12 gage for my daughter that she can shoot skeet and hunt with. I am not real sure how seriouse she is about this so I dont want to spend a fortune.

Does anyone have any suggestions for a childs 12 gage/beginners gun?

    use a semi auto.
    use 1oz loads or less.

    Good thing you chose the 12ga. To many people try to get their kids started using one of the smaller gage guns and those are better left to experienced shooters. A good reliable gun that is almost foolproof would be the Remington 870. Little to go wrong and simple to use. There are a lot of LIGHT loadings available in 12 ga as well.

    unless she has other shooting experience,maybe take her somewhere to try out a few different gauges and action types to find what shes comfortable handling and firing first .a lot of new shooters get turned off for life by a bad first exp with recoil/noise.that said,a semiauto 12 like a rem 1100 can be found fairly cheap,will shoot heavy hunting or light target loads,& less felt recoil than a pump or double.

    you would be better off with a 20 ga 1100, if you insist on a 12 get a 1100 or 11-87, DO NOT get a pump under any circumstances, the recoil is far too much,

    Hey lwbisquit when my children started getting interested in shotguns I found a Charles Daley pump all camoed out at Wally World for $175. But that was about 8 years ago. Worked fine for the money. Both of my boys started with it. Also cant go wrong with the 870.
