merwin and hulbert
just another gun i got that i am wondering about, what do these sell for approximently. it is a merwin and hulbert marked "sistema merwin hulbert", so it is the foriegn copy according to the blue book, it also has the hopkins and allen marking which it says is rare, timing is off a bit, it doesnt line up with the barrel right when cocked. pretty cool old gun, i was thinking its value at about 350 dollars as a collectible.

Neat copy of the ist model MH Pocket Army. Book says 1/2 value of original MH.
Is yours marked"cal 1873" ?
Is it 44-40 or 44 M&H?
Fair cond. original MH value is $1500 so yours is probably about $750

The hand can be lengthened a smidgon by braze or weld and filed to proper length to lock the cylinder. I would do this if it were mine.
I had my second model hand repaired and the gun functions and shoots very well.
Yours looks like it was well used by some Vaqueros.0 -

If you would send me a close-up picture of the action under the side plate I could see if it's the same problem I just solved the other day. The hand and cylinder lock have a small flat spring that keeps it forward to turn the cylinder and set the lock. This one would only turn and lock the cylinder if you shook it with it pointed straight down and pulled the trigger. There are two different models that I've seen and the springs are different.
The spring is .093 in. wide, .018 in. thick and 7/8th in, long, must be heated and formed and re-tempered.
