    had one - Scandium - with a Crimson Trace Lasergrip red laser.

    It was wicked to shoot with full-house Magnum loads in it.

    Not a plinker - for Magnums. I never shot Specials in it.

    Gonned it.

    Got one, love it, but I will never put another magnum cartridge in it again. It is ok with 38 special +p, but if you want the effect of the magnum in it, just put your hand on the table and hit it with a hammer. Then sprinkle burning powder all over yourself. There just isn't enough weight there for that load, and I don't know how much you really gain in that short of a barrel. I had one, traded it off, and this one isn't going anywhere. I am not sure about the laser grips yet, but I can see the advantage(yes, I have a set on mine).

    They are great to carry, since they only weigh 12 ounces. They almost don't feel real at first.

    My usual carry gun is a S&W 340.

    An absolute pleasure to carry, however, not fun to shoot.

    Recoil is brutal, and Magnaporting did very little to improve on such.

    FWIW, while it does lose a lot from a short barrel, there *is* a good bit of ballistic advantage to .357 magnum out of a short barrel in comparison to .38 special.

    In my opinion though, whatever ballistic advantage you might get from the .357 is FAR outweighed by the vastly increased recoil, noise, blinding muzzle flash, and expense of the magnum loads and scandium gun.

    If you aren't going to be CARRYING .357s then, IMO its not worth the extra $300 for the scandium gun (vs the ordinary aluminum alloy "airweight") just to save 1-2 ounces of carry weight.
