Multi cal AR?

I have an Olympic arms AR on layaway(not home yet) and it has multi cal stamped on the receiver. It also says PCR 03 and a BT with four numbers after it. I've looked at the Oly sight and cannot find anything that helps. Anyone?

    Probably takes the 5.56 case primarily and can be used for 9mm and 7.62X39, 6.8, 22 lr and the short fat stuff - 50 Beowulf, 450 Bushmaster (I'm forgetting one?)and such.

    AR lowers are generally divided into 5.56 size & the larger 7.62X51.

    What kind of info or help are you wanting?

    As Dl stated there are many calibers you can build using a AR-15 lower. I am going with at least 30 of them. There are also many you can build using the AR-10 lowers.

    The BARREL and BOLT will dictated what caliber your gun is. The lower is just a place to hold the fire control group (FCG), magazine and the stock.

    I'm sorry if my question was ambiguous. I know the rifle is 223. I was told by someone that you can put any caliber upper on any AR lower. Then I was told that that person is wrong. I believe I can put a 22, 223, or a 6.8 upper on this lower, but nothing bigger right? A 308 mag seems big to fit the mag well hence the AR10 no?

    Any round that WILL fit in the .223 mag well can be used in the AR-15 platform.

    If you have a longer round like the .243, 6mm, .260, .308 ect you will need the AR-10 platform that has a bigger mag well and action (the upper).

    I have an Oly in 5.56 that has multi cal. on thel ower too, I think in means basically what everyone one else has already told you, any upper in any cal thats made to fit the ar-15 lower will work on the oly lower.

    AR's are pretty modular. Uppers can easily be swapped and there are many companies who make custom uppers some in some wildcat type cartridges. You can have one built in just about any cartridge that the receiver is long enough to handle. Its smart to stamp multi cal on the lower because if there is ever a registration act on them, i won't fix them to a single caliber. Just like registering an SBR there is a blank where you fill out the barrel length. I fill in 3.5" to 24" just so I'm not stuck to the 10.5 or 11.5 I put on it.
