Browning sweet 16 serial #'s

I have been forwarded some information from the blue book of gun values. It says in the serialization section "1957-58 prefix T for standard and A for sweet 16 numbers mixed, but range from 1-10900. 1958-1976 serial # sequence changed to include a 1 or 2 digit numeral followed by an alpha character". I think this must mean That my A40x serial # came early in 1957? Does this mean a A prefix is worth less more or the same amount? Please understand this shotgun is NOT for sale and I am only looking for truthful assessments on value. This gun is about 98% with a modified matted barrel and also a slug barrel. Thanks for your input.

  sweet 16's should have an X for the older ones til 53 then S thru 56 and an A for 57 or the first half of 58 only...al then back to S...beginning in 58 the last number of the year (8 ment 58) 9 was 59 0 was 60 and soforth until 68 when it was 68s

  the value of the gun is determined by the chamber. if its 2 3/4, it has value. if its 2 9/16, its hasnt.
