AR-15/M-16 Aluminum Bolt Carrier??

I just got this in a box of parts. Can anyone tell me what an aluminum bolt carrier is used for? Sub caliber devise? Seems like it's too light for an AR- in regular configuration. Help! Thanks for any input. It's marked Rhino in an oval on the left side.

    I believe that the Rhino bolt carrier is for an AR that operates with a rod rather than the conventional gas through the tube and into the bolt carrier etc.

    the rhino conversion was around in the early 80's then it just disappeared it was the first AR 15 piston conversion

    Perhaps Rhino made a rimfire conversion or a piston conversion, but I doubt it. The Rhino aluminum bolt carrier was designed to increase the cyclic rate of full-automatic fire. The lighter bolt carrier has less inertia and will cycle faster than a heavier steel carrier. I have one and the advertisement offering it for that purpose. I did not buy it new, but got it from a shooter who always was playing with the AR-15/M16 platform in the 1980s.

    Thanks Everyone! This one has the gas key present, looks maybe like stainless. It must have been for the gas system. Sounds like the increased cyclic rate must have been the reason for the aluminum carrier. I can't see how it would last that long though. Might be why I've not seen one before.
