high standard 1911

I have a high standard 1911, if empty will lock and cock, if one in pipe will not. What can I do to solve this.

  Any feelings on how good or bad would like honest answer just a shooter not a carry gun or target shooter. Semper Fi

  sounds like it may not be fully into battery...could be the ammo, if you are shooting reloaded ammo..maybe a fouled chamber...see what it takes to go fully into battery...probably something simple

  Clean the chamber and shoot properly sized ammo.
