Opinion on a 1952 Model 94

I was doing some research and came across this board. Gee I didn't even know it existed.

I need some help from a knowledgeable Win 94 expert.

I just sold this rifle Auction # 122674404 for $530 and I have an unhappy buyer. He says he felt mislead about my using the word "freckling" instead of rust and he also feels there is something wrong with the action since the lever will hang open about 1/2"...due to gravity, when the hammer is in the un-cocked position, it firms up on 1/2 or full cock.

He took the gun to a "gunsmith" and the smith told him the gun had been re-blued and it would cost $95 for him to take a look at the action.

I had talked to a "Rudy" at the Winchester service center and he informed me the lever hanging a bit was normal and that when firing the gun the lever would be held in a position to compress the firing pin stop. So even though I wondered about it, I felt it was a non-issue.

Bottom line I don't to mislead anyone or have an unhappy purchaser so I've agreed to refund the purchaser's money.

But now I'll have to "auction" it again. Of course I want to get top dollar, but I don't want to mislead anyone so any and all tips would be appreciated.

I see there are a few Winchester 94 Experts on the board. Would you kindly take a look at the auction and photos and render your opinion?

Also any info on the lever being loose and hanging a bit and if this is an issue that I should mention in the ad would be greatly appreciated.

    Your pictures are numerous enough, but are of poor quality.

    Please post a clear (well illuminated) picture of the Winchester proof marks stamps on the top of the receiver frame ring and on the barrel. I also recommend reshooting all of your auction pictures in natural lighting... they are much too blue looking.

    The lever should not droop on a pre-64 Winchester Model 94... Rudy is full of horse manure[xx(].

    You have come to the right place. We have some of the best, and most likely the best Winchester Expert on board in our forum. His name is Bert H.

    I looked at the auction, and all of your pictures seem to have a bluish tint to them. The best light to use is natural daylight. That said, you can see the "freckling" clearly in the pictures, but you did not put in a AS IS-No Return disclaimer for your return policy. It is up to you. He seen the pictures and bid anyway, but most likely if you do not take it back he will post a negative feedback. Put a good description down, and post an AS IS-NO return policy.

    Thanks guy's I appreciate the feedback. I know my photos are not the best. I did take it out doors to the back deck and placed on the glass patio table. It probably wasn't a sunny day...I noticed the "blue" tint too.

    I'm going to have to try reading the manual and wait for some good lighting when I get the 94 back.

    Bert, I went through my photos and this is the best I have as far as lettering and text, close to the receiver. Not sure if this will work...it's my first attempt at posting a photo.

    Bert, any idea's on what might cause the lever to "droop"?

    From what you guy's can see, anyone care to take a stab at value?

    A small spring loaded pin holds the lever up.Spring is broken or pin is rusted.Should not take an expert to fix the problem.

    In my veiw you did extremely well on that rifle at that price. I see plenty offered at $500 that don't sell.
