Been looking at the Savage and thinking about the F CLass competitions. I shot High power M 14 as a kid. close to twenty years ago. I had read in a magazine that the ammo is hard to find ( this was before everyone was buying everything they could) My question is how hard is it to locate and buy. My understanding is alot of it comes from Norma which is over seas and our gov't has banned importing ammo.

So can you buy it or find it

  Im wondering if theres a certain caliber of rifle to buy that if i switched the barrel to make it a 6.5x284 that the ammunition would fit and work properly in the magazine like in a 700 remington. I guess why im asking is im not sure of the overall lengths, etc. And i would like to have one thats a repeater. doug

  You need to consider reloading especially if you want to shoot F-Class. It's fun, relaxing and you get the type of ammunition you want, when you want it, cheaper.
