NICE Mini 14 Sporter stock?

Does anyone sell real wood or very nice laminate sporter style stocks for a Mini 14? No thumbhole crap... I'm talking about a nice classically styled sporter stock with checkering, maybe something you would find on a M77 Ruger or 700ADL.

    I used Andean and for the price, their brown laminate no thumbhole is well made, nice finish and pretty much drop in. You have to do a bit of hand work (small chisel and file) where the gas block meets the forend, but it's pretty easy. The metal liner dropped in with no adjusting. Looks nice all around I think.

    Thanks. I guess I'm going against the grain; seems everyone is turning their Mini's into "Black Rifles" these days... maybe they should have bought an AR platform in the 1st place?
    I like the traditional beauty of wood, and as far as I can tell, anyone who offered a drop-in Mini stock styled like the 10/22 stock pictured below would own the market for traditionalists like myself. The Andean stock is "Oh-Kay", but missing the checkering & grip cap style I'm really looking for.

    That would be my guess. The Mini-14 is not really in the 'Classic' style niche. The Mini-14 is a plinker at best, designed to attract those folks who want a 'sort of' battle rifle at less cost. In this vein, the biggest market is for the synthetic stocks and stocks with a military-type style.

    That picture from Coastal is a very nice composite wood assembly. And the price is even reasonable. Too bad they're out of stock.

    Given your parameters, I think you would be better served by using a stockmaker to get exactly what you think you want. That way, you have the input into the design and style rather than having to accept what someone else thinks is right. Claude Gatewood works with 10/22's a lot but has a custom business for other types of rifles.
