15 minute rule...

GB Help is not very clear on this rule.

Would someone please 'splain it to me ASAP.

I'm looking at an auction that is ending soon.

Posted this in GD, also.

    No bids are allowed in the last 15 min. If one is placed inside the last 15 min of an auction, the auction "resets" to 15 min before it ends.

    for future reference: 10 min left you bid this resets the clock to 15 min another 12 min go by someone else bids clock resets to 15 min
    so any bid occurring within 15 minutes resets the clock to 15 minutes
    if you are in a bidding war it wont end till someone quits bidding then you better hope there is not a stragler to mees it up again.

    Makes it pretty much sniper proof, and also eliminates those bid in the last 2 seconds servies.

    In point of fact they are, unless they have a buy it now or a retail opening bid. The 15 minute rule makes them like standing in the auction house, or barn, and bidding against other buyer in the crowd, instead of through the usual on-line sniping service.

    Buy it now or an opening bid of the MSRP, simply makes it an internet store.

    My opinion regarding the need for a full "15 minute reset" now that we are in the 21st Century of computing and how it unnecessarily protracts auctions was surgically removed from your "15 minute rule" thread in the General Discussion Forum, so I'll refrain from posting the same minor [rant] here. [:D]

    He Dog's reply is the one that represents perfection.

    Six or 7 bidders that hire a hire an outfit to bid in the last 3, 2, 1-1/2 or 1 second removes this whole thing from an auction into something else, definetly not an auction.

    He Dog and I.Shute haven't been wrong yet!
