Fair price For Weatherby Rifle
I'm going to try to sell my Weatherby Mark V SVR .223 at a gun show this weekend. I have it topped off with a Burris Signature 4-16 x 44 scope. The gun list now for $1259 and the scope a little over $500.(I also have the Butler Creek flip up lens caps on the scope). This gun hase been taken care of and has no scratchs on any of the finish. I'm thinking around $1200 would be fair? Maybe more since they do not make the .223 anymore?

From my knowledge of selling firearms, both as a private party and dealer, the first thing I would suggest is that you remove the scope from the rifle and sell them seperately. I had a several year interaction with a dealer and he would regualarly buy rifles, a about $0.50 on the dollar for the rifle and not give the seller anything at all for the scope, even leupold that he knew he could sell on the side for good money. Private partys may or may not have the cash you demand for the combo package. Your asking price of $1200 for the combo actually sounds reasonable, if you find the right buyer, but I'd go at it from $850 & $350. You can always post the auction here for the scope if it doesn't go with the rifle. Good luck.... 0 -
Good advice listed above.. One thing I can tell you about dealers right now since I am one is that we are looking at buying anything semi auto or home defense type stuff and HANDGUNS !! since that is where the market is ..That Weatherby is a nice rifle but not to me at this time or in this time of the season.. Id wait til just before varmint season if you are going to sell it to a dealer.. 0 -
