c&r good for 2nd gen colts
is a curio and relic good for 2nd gen colts? had a buyer tell me he thinks they are good but i dont know, do any of you know?

Yes, according to ATF, ALL Second Generation Colt SAA's are C&R eligible. However, some states such as New York, do not recognize C&R licenses for handguns. 0 -

As a C & R holder myself, it really pays to read and reread the list. Every time I look I do an "I didn't know that" on guns that are fewer than 50 years old but still C & R eligible. For example, in checking for the SAA 2nd gen I just learned that the Colt 1911 in 38 Special wadcutter is C & R elgible.0 -

Very true. A lot of people don't realize that all pre-1964 Winchester 94's are also C&R eligible. Reading is fundamental!0 -

$30 for 3 years. You can get the application from your local ATF office or from the Federal Firearms Licensing Center at 1-866-662-27500 -
In addition to receiving C & R eligible handguns (OK in most states, a few antigun states restrict to Type 01) and C & R eligible rifles mailed direct to your door, you'll also get a pretty good discount from on line vendors such as Brownells, Midway & Grafs. And of course with the C & R you can hit the out of state gun shows and buy face to face, cash & carry. The Reno Gun Show is coming up, I'm usually good for 2 or three purchases. A Savage 99 is pretty high on my list as is the Smith 53.
Being able to buy direct from an out of state seller saves me about $100.00 average on transfer & DROS fees.
Keep in mind that when you get the license you do have to maintain a log book of your C & R purchases & sales. Still, a good deal for $30.00.0 -

All of your disposable funds will end up turning into rifles and pistols. You will start scouring all of the auction sites just to purchase good deals; you'll send your CRFFL to different gun dealers just to get discounts!

To me the C&R is the best thing I ever got for all the reasons already mentioned. Makes buying a lot easier. The record keeping is simple. You are supposed to keep records anyway. Any gun in original configeration over 50 years old is elegible. You need to be prepared to doccument that the gun is over 50 years old. The original configeration can be one of those grey areas though. 0
