S&W model 19 Round butt in 4-6" ? Nickel"?

I have a 19-3 2 1/2" nickel. Did S&W make this one in a 4 or 6" barrel. I would really like to find one,nickel preferred,in either 4 or 6" Round butt.

    Yes, Smith made the model 19 with both 4" and 6" barrels in addition to the 2 1/2". Although all three barrel lengths were made in nickel, the round butt was only used on the 2 1/2".

    This applies to general production guns. As with many models of S&W guns there were special runs of 19's with odd ball barrel lengths and frame configurations.

    I've seen both 4 and 6" nickeled square butt model 19s, and I'm kicking myself now for not buying one in good shape a few years back for $325 when I had the chance!

    As to round butt nickel model 19s, I've seen short barrelled ones, but I don't ever remember seeing one with a longer 4 or 6 inch barrel.

    That doesn't mean they don't exist, but the round butt guns are designed for concealment and usually that shape goes with a short barrel.

    Of course you *could* convert a square butt to a round butt, but you wouldn't dare do that, would you?

    There is someone - Hogue maybe - that makes "round butt" grip panels that fit on "square butt" frames.

    You can't tell the difference when they are mounted.

    I've seen & handled a 6" round butt Model 19 - was thinking about picking it up but grabbed an older 610 instead. The 19 was a pinned model and just my guess is it was a 70's version. I suppose someone could have turned a 6" bbl onto a RB 19 frame though, it looked all OK to me.
