sauer & sons single action

Can you pls give me an approx. value of a sauer & sons single action revolver that was made about 35-40 yrs ago?
It has adjustable rear sights and a 6" barrel. This is a 44 mag in good condition and is very accurate. Also do you know how many were produced?

    Their descent quality revolvers that sold for just a little less then a comparable Ruger, when they were sold in the States years ago. Nowadays because most folks aren't familiar with them, and they have been off the market for years, your not likely to get even close to a used Ruger in the same condition would bring. I would check the two large on-line gun auctions for the actual selling prices of Ruger 44's in comparable condition, to yours. Figure yours would bring 2/3's to 3/4's of that. Because times are real tough now for lots of folks, not likely it would sell to quickly, even at even 2/3's.

    J P Saur & Sohn single actions were made from 1968, imported from 1973 - 1981 by Hawes and listed as the Saur Western Marshal SA Revolver. Usually referred to as Hawes, the importer from Los Angeles, Ca. You might want to look at listings for Hawes Western Marshall, Deputy Marshall, etc. and see if they are similar to what you have. I think the adjustable sight model was called the Chief Marshall SA Target and came in .357 mag, 45 colt, 44 mag, 44-40, even 9mm and .45ACP combinations.
    I have a couple of these, less expensive than a Colt SAA and not as robust as a Ruger but I've never had an issue with either of mine, one is in .44 Mag and the other in .45 Colt.
    If indeed yours is one of these Hawes, they typically sell on line (so add FFL and shipping costs ) in the $250 - $350 range depending on condition

    Does this one look like yours? This is a Herter .401 Powermag made by J.P.Sauer & Sohn for Herter but it was also made in .44mag. & .357 mag. It's a great gun and very accurate. [8D]
