Officers Model ----

I have a Colt Officers Model 38, as marked on the barrel.
Foolishly, I dry fired it, thinking it would be o.k. since it is a revolver. WRONG !!! The firing pin broke !

E-Gunparts lists a firing pin nose for the Colt Officers Model Match. Is that what this revolver is called or is the Match model a later model? Would the firing pin nose be the same ? The firing pin nose is mounted on the hammer, not in the frame.

This revolver has an adjustable front site for elevation, and the rear site is adjustable for windage.

I don't know when this revolver was made but it is probably an early one. The s/n is 451225.

All comments appreciated.

I'll try getting a better picture of the broken firing pin nose.

  Tom, Based on the ser number that old Colt was made about 1920 and would be an Officers Model (second issue)
  
  I have 2 Officers Model Matches in .22 & .38 cals. They have hammers that look like Python Hammers with the wide spur and were made after your gun.
  
  Even though your gun has the thinner spur it may still use the same firing pin as the Officers Model Match. I suspect it does, but call the parts people to confirm before you order the part.

  Guess I'll call gun parts and talk to them and see if they can figure it out.
  
  They show three different ones, with the same number but a different suffix. Hopefully they will know which one I need.
