1911 parts gun

I'm hoping someone can shed some light on my 45. It is an Ithaca frame
according to the serial # but has a Remington Rand slide on it. Nickle
is quite worn but seems to match on both the slide and frame. I remember seeing nickeled guns like this in the service on white
lanyards carried for ceremonial purposes. Any armorers out there shed any light?

  You have a Mixed Parts Mongrel that Bubba has had his way with.
  
  But, all is not lost. There are several gunsmiths who specialize in stripping & parkerizing such guns. Hopefully, it wasn't polished excessively. Try Chuck at molinenorski@msn.com .

  Very, very unlikely that the nickel finish is original. Because of this it would be considered a "shooter", ( and valued accordingly ), rather then having any value to a collector. Unless you can substantiate the finish was done when in military service, your SOL.

  Thanks for the response. Just was told one time that the gove would
  take occasional poor shooters and have them nickeled for "parade"
  guns. Just curious. The price was right and and although it hates
  hardball, it loves my 185 and 200g. handloads.
  
  Would rather have it under my pillow than a tooth!

  Re: White lanyards- they were more than ceremonial- trust me. Did a tour of duty in Alaska. If you are skiing on 6 feet of snow, and drop your 45, you better HOPE you had a dummy cord on it!

  In the woods I carry a revolver in a shoulder holster with a lanyard ring.
