Buying a Tokarev:what do I need to look for?

Hello,I'm planning on purchasing a Romanian TTC Tokarev in 7.62x25mm and I was curious as to what I may need to look for in the gun.I can purchase the gun I'm currently looking at for $225,including the FFL transfer fees.Any help is appreciated,thanks.

    Well many are coming it with cracked grips. I also recommend putting a new recoil spring in it and to make sure the bore is not pitted from corrosive ammo.

    However, new grips are available and barrels easy to come by. Also in these be cure to not shoot the hotter 7.62x25mm sub gun ammo in them, you will bust parts.

    How much would a new recoil spring and barrel set me back ? I've been told not to fire the Czech made ammo in a Tokarev before,due to it being loaded way hotter than the Russian round.

    check the dots on the sight ramp,the less dots the better

    The Czech CZ 52's are the ones with the center punch marks on the top portion of the slide behind the front sight, not the Tokarev's.

    Ok let's see if I got this right.Don't use Czech sub machine gun 7.62x25mm ammo in my Tokarev,try to replace the recoil spring as soon as I can,get a spare barrel(just in case the bore is pitted)and overall have a nice time shooting it.Anything I missed guys ? thanks

    Well wait until you get the gun to see if the barrel is FUBAR.
    Wolff Gun Springs sell new recoil springs. Should be less than 10 bucks.

    Wehrmacht45:How much would a new barrel cost ? Do you have a link to Wolff Gun springs or do they have a website.thanks.Once the gun is in my possesion I'll check the barrel.so far it's in very good condition from what I've seen.

    I bought one of those Romanian Tokarev pistols from SOG. I am quite surprised by the way it functions. It is very accurate also. It seems like the Commies wanted to make thier version of the 1911. Decent pistol for the money.
