Does anyone make an extended magazine tube

  I'm nowhere near my stuff but I seem to remember that certain models of the Mossberg 500 will not take extension tubes because of the barrel band, I think. Brownells has an 8-shot new tube that replaces the original:

  hello. no, there is no such item. its not possable. you have to change the barrel, the mag tube, and the tube spring.

  I checked with Brownell's and they list one, but no application notes.

  Nope you need a 590 barrel, mag tube, and mag tube spring since the barrel screws into the mag tube to secure it.

  I think you would be cheeper off just buying a 590 and selling the 500. That is basically what a 590 is.
  
  Since the barrel is mounted by screwing into the mag tube you have to change everything, ie the gun. I am sure it could be done but why?

  As I stated, I'm not anywhere near my stuff so I suggest you call Brownells in the morning and get a proper answer from the guys that will know. Ask them about the differences and what will work.
  
  By the way, the 8-shot is not an extension, it's a whole new mag tube. The Tech guys at Brownells will explain if and how it can be done.
