Hello, I Have a L.C.Smith Field Grade serial no.R454xx. The top of the Right barrel is marked L.C. Smith Field Grade. underneath both barrels marked armour steel. Both lockplates marked L.C.Smith. I have a few questions that I would like to find answers to. The first question is when was it made? The next question is were these barrels made for smokless powder? Thank you in advance.

  Hello, once again I am a little cofused on L.C. Smith serialization. I see what appears to be repeating groups of numbers. At least at the web site I used. Is the a web page better than another for their numbers? also when would 105xxx 12 gauge field grade have been most likely made? Thank You - Tom

  Tom, There is an overlap, and it exists in ejector and extractor guns. Assuming your gun is a Field extractor it's a 1928 gun.

  HEY TOM! Go to www.lcsmith.org, they have a page that will help you "decifer" HA! Your seriel number and tell grade. But there was an overlapping of ser. numbers during changes to Hunter Arms and also between guages and grades.
