Did H&R ever sell wildcat 17 cal centerfire

Did H&R ever sell a rifle build on a Sako action chambered for a 17 cal wildcat that looks like a 223 necked down to 17 cal. Guy says that is what it is and wants $500 for it...thoughts?

  The .17 Remington started out as a wildcat of the .223 necked down to .17cal. If it is a Sako action, hopefully their L461 mini action, then who cares if H&R had anything to do with it? That mini action is worth, to many people, the $500 by itself. Does the guy have any spent brass you can measure and compare to .17 Rem and .223 specs? The best case is where it will shoot factory .17 Rem ammo. Is there any chance of him letting you test shoot it? How about getting and posting some pics which will help get better responces?

  Yes H&R did market a rifle based on the L461 Sako action and called it the "Ultra Wildcat". The cartridge as already stated was a 17-223. It is not the ssame as the 17 remington which was based on the 222 mag necked down. Early rifles had sako dovetails, later versions had round L461 receivers. I still have one of each. I rebarreled the 17-223 with a Shilen in 17 mach IV. If you are being offered one for $500 and are still thinking about it you should go to gun school.
