HK dealer question
While the HK UMP is considered a LE only item, can be ordered in semi-auto only? Can it be purchsed/imported to the US? If yes, are they hard to get or cost prohibitive.

NO and NO.
If you want one the closest thing you can get is a USC in .45 then spend another $1500-$3000 getting it set up how you want it. Here is a web site that was full of parts and info for doing the conversions but it is looking very bad at the moment, http://www.top-notchparts.com/prod01.htm I would do some checking before ordering from them now.

If you are looking for a semi auto carbine there are a few choices.
Olympic Arms make a AR that take Glock mags
Keltec 2000 thing that take many different mags depending on what you get
Ruger PC-40 that is still around but not in production anymore that takes Ruger mags and can be converted for some others.
There is also a company that makes .40 Uzi barrels but Uzi's have shot up in price now that Vector is not making them anymore.

HK is not exactly civilian friendly with their guns, so even if it was legal, I doubt it would be sellable to the average joe. 0 -
