Browning BL 22 help!!! 911

How do you release the magazine tube on a browning bl 22[?]. I just bought a set of sling swivels and need to release the magazine tube to put on the front peice. I removed the band that holds it on the barrel and it wont move[:(!]. I dont have a book for it because I bought it used[xx(]. I cant get the forarm off because it is banded on with looks to be rivets[:0]. I know you guys will figure it out[;)]. Oak

    Thanks shootlow[:p]. I got the schmatics but iam still not sure how to get that forearm pin out[?]. it looks like it is pop riveted not a pin.Oh well, the devil hates a coward[}:)] so I'll give it a shot.

    Oakie I got into this a few months back, I refinished a stock on mine. If I remember right take the stock off, may or may not need to , but I do know you have to remove the trigger guard and trigger assembly, then there is a set screw in the receiver where the mag tube slides in, loosen the set screw and the tube will slide out. I pulled mine out in a vise and had to replace it because someone told me it just pulled out. I DO know there is a set screw in the receiver. good luck. also the bands should be pinned on take a small punch or finish nail and tap them out, bands will slide off, need to remove both, one on forearm and the one on the barrell. my barrell band had a screw the forearem band was the only one pinned. Oakie on second thought the screw is in the receiver, just can't remember if it is accessable inside the receiver from front or back, maybe behind the forearm where the set screw is. either way the trigger group could probubly use a good cleaning and it is easy to remove and reasemble, try sliding the forearm forward a few inches first after removing the bands if you can't see the set screw then it is inside the receiver. hope I didn't mess you up. I have refinished three rifles since fall they all seem to run together.

    hillbille, Thank you. I will give it a try. I had the forearm off lsat night and did not see the screw so I will disassemble the reciver. This sounds fun to do all this myself. Iam just a little nervous about not being able to get it back together. I will update you in a few hours. Oak.

    I did it[:D]. I had to take the whole gun apart and watch springs and parts go everywhere[:0][:0][:0], but I got it all back together and it works great[;)].I took my time and looked at the pictures and got it back together in about 15 minutes. Thank you so much hillbille and everyone else for all the info. You guys are great. It feels so good to be part of such a great brotherhood[^].Guys, have a great day and god bless. Oak

    thanks great to hear you got it working without any major problems. it is a great little gun, got mine for my grandson but I like the short throw you can work the lever by just opening and closing your fingers. glad to hear it worked out ok.
