Winchester 94 Carved

Hi I purchased a Winchester 94 Rifle Half Round Half Octagon that was built in 1909. It has a Beautiful Bear Carved in the stock. I was told Winchester employed TWO Carvers. One Carver carved Bear Scenes only and one Carver carved Deer Scenes.

I have been looking for anyone or any documentation that can confirm the this special order option? Any help would be appreciated.

    You were told incorrectly.

    First, Winchester had many more than just two stock carvers.

    Second, Winchester did not carve animal scenes into the stocks of any of their many models of guns. Winchester did use patterns "A" through "I" with pattern "A" being the fanciest (most expensive), and pattern "I" being the least expensive. The vast majority of carved stocks are found with the "H" pattern.

    Lastly, if your Model 1894 is in the 474242 - 505831 serial range, it was not made in the year 1909. If you want to know when it was actually made, please post (or send me) the serial number, but my guess is that you have a 1911 vintage gun.
