Are Jimenez pistols really dangerous?

I was made an offer today for a jimenez .25 for $80. The pistol is in great shape. It comes with box, papers, and mag. I've heard alot of junk talked about them. This would just be a pistol I would tink around with for jokes outside in the yard. Is it really that much of a piece of trash?

    Their sold as inexpensive, personal protection handguns. If it doesn't work when you need it in a emergency, your up (a) creek with out a paddle.

    If your just going to use it to shoot empties in the back yard and not as a carry piece, I would worry about it. It not working, isn't going to get you killed.

    If you just want something to plink in the yard, you don't want a .25 because the ammo is expensive ---- Jimenez makes the same gun in .22 LR, & that's the one you want.

    $80 would be top dollar for a used .25; I can't see it for a gun that's too unreliable for defense, & too expensive to plink.

    Alrite thank you. Yes, this would definately not be something I would carry with me. Sometimes alot friends like shooting your guns but don't want to purchase ammo. Now I can say something like here take this jimenez junk and go blow some rounds in the grass.

    I don't think the gun is going to be dangerous to you in the sense that it will blow up in your hand and cause you physical injury. (Though I would STRONGLY recommend wearing eye protection when firing ANY gun).

    The worst likely outcome is that the gun will malfunction a lot (ie not shoot reliably), and quickly suffer a major parts failure requiring repair.

    It may or may not be particularly accurate, though for a .25 that's sort of irrelevant, since this is basically a gun that is used at arms' length distance as a last resort.

    Personally, I wouldn't buy it. IMO .25s are entirely obsolete. The ammo is hard to find and expensive, and nowadays you can get similar sized guns in .380 that are far more effective.

    Honestly, if you want to plink in your backyard for fun, you're REALLY better off with a decent pellet pistol. That will be safer, more pleasant to shoot, won't anger your neighbors, and cheaper to boot.

    i was offered a brand new in the box for 25 dolars turned it down make a better paper weight
