Where are the Colt Trooper III .22"s?

How many of these did they make in .22? I have been looking for a 4" blue for several months,don't see many come up. Only a few made or are shooters just keeping them? This seems to be a trend at local gun shows: very few to none quality.22 DA revolvers for sale. Troopers are almost always .357's

    A bit more seriously, the thing that strikes you most when you pick one of these up is just how HEAVY they are. They seem to weigh more than the comparable Smith K22s.

    As to scarcity, I don't know the numbers, but these were manufactured for many years. There are a good number of them out there and you can find them for sale on the auction site. Unfortunately for buyers, like all Colt revolvers nowadays, they're not cheap.

    If you can find one for sale, you can expect to pay around $500 for it, give or take depending on condition.


    Edit for April 2011:
    There aren't many listed, but two Trooper .22s have sold on the auction site in the last 90 days for $450 and $510, so it looks like prices have stayed around the same in the last two years.

    A local dealer has one for $650. 4", excellent condition.
