Ruger Mini 14

I heard and read many pros and cons with the mini 14. I was looking to make mime more practicle with some tactical applications i.e. railings, adjustable stock, optics. What do you experts think?
Should I attempt this or should I sell it and get something else?
What aftermarket mags do you recommend?

    What makes a mini 14 a ranch model? Is it the receiver that has a dove tail for scope rings or the drilled and taped for a base that makes it a ranch model? I've heard conflicing stories about this and would like to find out one way or the other. Thanks...[:)]

    Welcome to the forums Mike. The folding stocks on Mini 14s usually came on the GB model that also has a flash hider and bayonet lug that uses M-16 bayonets.

    I could be wrong, but I think Ruger still makes that model. If you do a search on Mini 14 stocks, you may find that just the folding stock alone is worth a couple hundred dollars.

    You would need to post the serial number so that someone could look up the year yours was made.

    what are the first three didgits of the serial will give up a lot of info.

    Thge box is marked Mini-14/F , and the serial # begins with 183 .

    In the state where Spider and I reside, that would go for $750.00-1000.00, as it is a pre-ban with all the goodies. By pre-ban, I mean before 1994.
